JavaJive Report

JavaJive

On Friday, October 17th, and Saturday, December 13th, the JavaJive teen-run coffee house was revived thanks to the efforts of a group of Mount Greylock teens, guided by congregation members Moira Jones, Beth Davis, Brian Handspicker, and Rachelle Smith, as well as recent confirmands Sophie Jones, and Molly Hynes, and Schuyler Jones, and Wesley Davis who are in the current confirmation class.  This event has been very popular with Williamstown teens.  There have been an estimated 100 to 150 students at each event so far this year.

The December 13th JavaJive, was held after the Holiday Walk at the Log, on Spring Street (since the Fellowship Hall was being used for the Habitat for Humanity Christmas Tree showcase/auction).  The gross receipts from the October event were $297, and on December 13th we grossed $420.  Tom Plunkett has been paid back from the grant money for the sound system, which he had cobbled together from his own funds during the initial phase of JavaJive.  There has been no success in finding a part-time (20 hours per month) JavaJive coordinator.  This situation, and the plan for disposing of the funds collected at the door, will be discussed at our next meeting on January 10, 2009.
