Nominating Commitee Report

Nominating Committee Report

Right after Annual Meeting, the Nominating Committee knew its first order of business was to update and revise the church Interest Survey of members and friends talents. There are many, many roles and ministries in the church and the committee’s job is to help people identify their talents, interests, and experience and then to match them to church needs. With suggestions from the committee, Carrie Waara ably pulled this project together.  The new talent survey was mailed to members and friends in early October and the initial response to the survey has been good.  The committee will continue asking the church community to update these forms.

The next order of business was to find replacements for the members in each cluster who have served their terms. The committee met bi-monthly and by e-mail this fall.  After discussion and suggestions from the committee, Lynn Chick, Moira Jones, and Jody Green, the representatives from the Congregation, Community, and Stewardship Clusters, have recruited nominees to fill the vacancies in each cluster.  They have been able to explain the roles, responsibilities, and time commitments involved in each cluster to the prospective members and answered their questions.  In certain cases they have recruited individuals to help with specific tasks such as Deacons on the Congregation Cluster.

The committee met with Judy Blackmer of the Transition Team.  It was agreed that the roles have become clearer, but there is a continuing need for education in the church community as to the responsibilities and time commitments of the members in each cluster. It is clear to the Nominating Committee that the clusters have developed calendars and are beginning to delegate tasks and form subcommittees.  This is helpful in explaining time commitments to prospective members.

On behalf of the church, the Nominating Committee would like to thank the members who are stepping down at the end of their term of service on a church committee: Kate Burdick, Josie Eusden, Anne Skinner, Sam Smith , Susan Smith, and Sally Sussman.

Respectfully submitted,

Judy Wright and Margaret Oxtoby, Co-Chairs, Lynn Chick, Jody Green, Moira Jones, Carrie Waara, and Doris McNabb Youngquist
