Outreach Allocations Report

Outreach Allocations Committee

(formerly known as the Board of Outreach)

The Outreach Allocations Committee has the duty to allocate budgeted funds for worthy work done locally and globally in the areas of hunger, poverty, homelessness, and education.  Our various methods of collecting information on causes come from members and friends of the church and the overflowing outreach mailbox.  Of the $11,440 allocated, $5,500 was distributed in late spring.  The remaining $5,840 was distributed in October.  Included in the second portion of allocations was $3,000 specifically “for food and fuel purposes in north Berkshire County.”

Outreach Allocations Committee members Blair Benjamin, Bob Hadden, Janet Keep, Carol Stein-Payne, and Sally Sussman participated as volunteers on this committee as well as serving on a variety of other church assignments.  Although allocations were our main focus, we participated in the Makepeace interview process, approved Helping Hands grant applications, and supported the annual Outreach Sunday in October.  On Tuesday, December 9th, a field trip was taken to observe the Capital City Rescue Mission in Albany, an example of excellent community support.  The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition’s monthly Friday meetings again served as an important link to our own area.
