Treasurer’s Report
The past year saw completion of a review and partial audit of the Church’s financial records by our financial consultant, Rev. Karen McArthur, and by the firm of Boisselle, Morton & Associates. Following the review the Church received favorable written reports summarizing the review and its conclusions.
During the year the forms of the monthly financial statements issued by the Church were reviewed and revised to present the financial position of the Church in a simpler and more understandable manner.
With regard to the current year’s operations, through November 30th, 2008, the Church is essentially operating on budget.
The Treasurer acted as Chair of the Budget Task Force. This group began meeting in the early Fall and completed its work by the Special Church Meeting of December 7th, 2008. I am indebted to the Budget Task Force, consisting of Susan Clarke, Jinx Tong, Anne Skinner, Annie Parkman, and Blair Benjamin for their expeditious and thorough efforts.
Finally, an Investment Committee has been established to consider the Church’s investments. The Committee consists of Jim Richardson, Reese Hughes and the Treasurer and has met twice and will meet periodically. Unfortunately, the economic crisis has had a substantially adverse effect on the value of the Church’s investments.
I wish to especially extend my thanks to Annie Parkman, our Financial Secretary, with whom I have worked closely during this year.
Respectfully submitted, John C. Craig
