Hmmm, so the website doesn’t look quite right on your computer… or you clicked on something and got a “not found error”… or you have a great idea for the website (Oohhh! We like those!)… or perhaps you’d just like to say Hi! The following posts are a repository of feedback about the site. They are in no particular order since, well, who are we to decide which kinds of feedback are the most important to you. So, poke amongst the following posts to see which best describes your problem, idea, thought. Then click on the “Leave a Comment” or “Comments” link at the bottom of that post to get to a list of other folks’ feedback on that topic, as well as a form for submitting your own feedback. As soon as your comment has been submitted we will get an email telling us about it and we will surge into action to find the solution to your problem or answer to your question! (If you think we need other types of feedback options than those below, leave a comment on this post!)

OK, so maybe you don’t have a great idea or some horrible bug to report. Perhaps you just want to make a simple comment about the website. Fear not, you can make a critical comment if that is what is resting heavy on your mind. We’ll take it seriously but we promise not to get upset. On the other hand, if you have something encouraging and pleasant to say we’ll dance around the room in joy. (Now there is a scary image.) Just click on the “Leave a Comment” or “Comments” link below and have at it in the little comments form. Click submit and your feedback will wing its way into our hearts… or at least into our computers. (”There’s a difference?” says Brian.)

Yes, this website is one of those grumpy pieces of software that sometimes doesn’t work quite the way we had all hoped. Problems with software are called bugs. They happen because, well, us folks that created the software are only human. But also they happen because there are a lot of different computers out there in the real world running different versions of operating systems and different browsers. Plus some of you have really big screens and display stuff really large, while other folks have more modest screens and display stuff really small. So when you find a bug you are doing us a great favor by telling us all about the problem - what happened, what it looks like, when it happened, what kind of a computer are you using, what version of which operating system is your computer running, what version of which browser are using and how big was the browser window and finally, how do you think it should have worked in a perfect world. We’d love to fix the problem, but we need to know about it first. Leave as much information as you can about your bug as a comment to this post.
P.S. “Admiral Grace Hopper (an early computing pioneer better known for inventing COBOL) liked to tell a story in which a technician solved a glitch in the Harvard Mark II machine by pulling an actual insect out from between the contacts of one of its relays, and she subsequently promulgated bug in its hackish sense as a joke about the incident (though, as she was careful to admit, she was not there when it happened).” From the definition of bug in the online dictionary “The Jargon File”.
