From the Deacons

April is another busy month for the First Congregational Church!

Rev. Mark is running a series of new member classes, with 10 people
considering joining the Church. They will bring us new members of the
Sunday School as well. The class covers the basics of congregational
polity, is reading Barbara Brown Taylor’s book, An Altar in the World,
together, and will gather on an evening to share spiritual journeys
with one another. New members look forward to joining the church on
Easter Sunday.

The Sunday School classes have been practicing for the Palm Sunday
pageant. This year it will be multi-generational with an opportunity
to help lead worship through a “reader’s theater” style pageant.
Through a series of lessons, they will start holy week by reliving
Jesus’s last visit to the temple in Jerusalem for Passover. This is
not a typical passion play – it is a progressive exploration of
Jesus’s passion for social justice and why his teachings and actions
led to his execution.

A sunrise service will be held at 6 am at Liz and Tom Costley’s house
on Bulkley Street on Easter Sunday morning. A light breakfast will be
provided afterward.

We are truly blessed to have an ever increasing congregation each
Sunday morning.
