Stewardship at the First Congregational Church of Williamstown……………

Psalm 116 asks a pertinent question: What return shall I make to the Lord for all God’s gifts to me?

Our Church mission depends upon the generosity of all who participate.  We must be good stewards of the gifts of hope and faith and inspiration.  Thus we give of ourselves as Christian stewardship encourages us to grant our “time, talent, and treasure” in God’s service.

Without the generosity of everyone in our Church community, we could not sustain the Church’s mission.  Stewardship means financial support, which comes in the following three forms

1.  ANNUAL PLEDGING    We make our annual commitment to support the Church by contributing a portion of our annual income.  Pledging is at the heart of financial stability at the FCC.  There is a pledge initiative each fall, with contact by mail.  To initiate a pledge at any time, please contact the Church Financial Secretary at 413-458-4273 or E-mail

2.   BEQUESTS AND PLANNED GIVING    Many generous gifts have come to the FCC over the years.  Each generation prepares for the next.  We thus encourage our members and friends to leave gifts to the Church in their wills or other instruments of estate planning, thus extending our stewardship into the future.  The Church Treasurer can assist in this matter.  Donors by bequest become members of the Whitman Welch Society, named after the first pastor of our Church (1765-1776)

3.   SPECIAL GIFTS    From time to time the Church seeks gifts for special occasions or projects.  Such initiatives are carefully monitored by the Church Council.
