We are a lively, progressive congregation of about 300 souls located in the northwest corner of Massachusetts. All are welcome to worship with us on Sunday mornings, or participate in one of our many social, education, and outreach ministries.
Founded in 1763, we are one of the longest operating church establishments in New England. Our members are committed to peace, social justice, and to supporting one another young and old, families and singles, interests and backgrounds of all kinds. We are officially both a “Just Peace” and an “Open and Affirming” church.
The Congregational approach is that all members are leaders and make decisions at an annual meeting that takes place every January. Recently we restructured from a committee system to three large clusters of interests’ the congregation, community, and stewardship.
Worship at First Congregational Church of Williamstown
We worship at 10 am on Sunday mornings. Following the service, at 11:15 am, we have our Second Hour @The Meetinghouse program of lectures, study groups, and discussions. One Sunday per month there is a luncheon following Second Hour. Check the Calendar.
Communion, served either in the pews or by intinction, takes place the first Sunday of every month. We practice open communion at this Church. Christians of any age and any denomination are welcome to receive the elements.
Special worship services are scheduled at 5 pm on Christmas Eve and 7 pm on Maundy Thursday. There is often an outdoor sunrise service, literally at the crack of dawn, on Easter Sunday, in addition to the regular 10 am worship service at the Church.
We warmly welcome you who are with us and invite you to join us for our time of fellowship following the service.
Assistive listening devices are available. Please ask a greeter for assistance.
