Welcome! Thanks for your interest in First Congregational Church, Williamstown. We are a vibrant and evolving congregation tucked away in the Berkshire mountains of Williamstown, MA. If you are visiting the area, looking for a church home, or simply curious what the buzz is about, we heartily invite you to join us for Sunday worship at 10 a.m.
We are a 250+-year-old congregation that embraces both tradition and innovation. We are passionate individuals seeking inspiration from the Christian tradition for a more whole life and world. We come from all walks of life: some are business owners, some administrators, others activists, scholars, or artists. Some have young children, others are empty-nesters, some are widowed or retired. Some grew up in Williamstown and others have discovered it in recent years. It’s from many diverse backgrounds and perspectives that we are compelled by Jesus’s dream of love and justice on earth as in heaven. We are proud of our rich historical heritage and are even more enthusiastic about the work God wants to do through us today.
Our services are fun, thought-provoking, and meaningful. We value silence and song, organ music and the blues, young babies and nonagenarians. My sermons are social-justice focused and inspired by a contemplative vision. I love grappling in the pulpit authentically with the challenges of Scripture and our world. We do our best to welcome absolutely everybody.
We’d love to meet you. Come visit and say hello.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Mark Longhurst
