FREE BAD FAITH Screening at Images
September 23 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The First Congregational Church (FCC) of Williamstown and the Chaplains Office at Williams College are partnering with Images Cinema, 50 Spring Street in Williamstown, to offer a free screening of the film Bad Faith on Monday, September 23 at 7 p.m.
Bad Faith traces the development of Christian Nationalism from its roots in the mind of an ultra-conservative strategist to the plans outlined in Project 2025, the blueprint for Trump’s proposed Presidency.
“Bad Faith exposes the deep roots of white Christian nationalism,” says David Langston, an FCC deacon. “It shows how Paul Weyrich began teaching activists during the Reagan administration how to substitute a religious wedge issue, abortion, for racial bigotry as a central hot button issue. The film illustrates how Christian nationalism aims to end our constitutional guarantees of religious freedom and to install one narrow religious creed as our dominant legal principle – in abortion, in gender equity, in immigration policy.”
Bad Faith follows up on the screening at Images of another movie about Christian Nationalism, God & Country, which FCC Williamstown and the WC Chaplains Office co-sponsored earlier this year.
The showing of Bad Faith is free; all are welcome. A drop-in reception before the screening will begin at Images at 6 p.m. Following the film, there will be a discussion in the theater of the film’s portrayal of our current questions and challenges.
