2nd Hour Presentation – “Frederick Douglass and the Cake”

November 17 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Nov.  17 Second Hour Presentation
“Frederick Douglass and the Cake”
Historian-storyteller and Massachusetts Cultural Council grant awardee Desiree Taylor will share her intriguing interpretation of the story of a cake that Frederick Douglass wrote about in his autobiographical works, a story that inspires reflections on parenting, liberation, and history-making.
All are welcome, and childcare will be available, as children under 11 years of age may not be as easily engaged.
This presentation is an ideal follow-up to last week’s Second Hour on Nov 10 “The Facade of Whiteness” by Rev Arnold Thomas.

Desiree Taylor M.Ed., M.A., is an educational storyteller. As a program designer and guest speaker she delivers history programs using an African American lens that get people talking together on issues like justice, survival, hope, and what it means to thrive. She works with diverse audiences from school children to retired populations to create spaces to dialogue about issues past and present. Her background is in American studies and education.    Mass Cultural Council loog in black & white
